I strongly believe in a balanced lifestyle where the individual can live life to its fullest by working hard and playing hard. Playing basketball and guitar are my favourite hobbies. As of now, I do not have any formal teaching experiences although I have other relevant experiences such as being the Section Leader of the Victoria School Chinese Orchestra and being an Orientation Group Leader in the year of 2014 in Raffles Junior College. I have also recently completed my NS service as an infantry sergeant. I believe these experiences have equipped me with the relevant soft skills that enables me to work with and motivate those under me. That brings me to talk about my working style. When it comes to tutoring there are two key things I believe. Firstly, the student has to take responsibility for his/her own learning and performance just as much as the tutor does. A conducive learning environment is one that is interactive, with the student expressing his goals and the tutor to do his best to help him achieve it. Ultimately, the solution lies in the students and the tutor brings it out of them so that in the end the students accords their achievements more as a result of their own doing rather than the tutor's. By taking ownership of their own progress, it builds pride, confidence and independence to spur them on to greater heights. The second thing is doing less for more. The focus is placed more on learning from mistakes, clarifying concepts and improving thinking processes rather than drilling on repetitive questions so that more can be reaped from less work done. By eliminating redundant work, results can be attained more efficiently. |
