Self Introduction
Having been brought up in an English speaking family, my foundations in English have been strong since young. Going into Secondary School with an A* in my PSLE English, I have not stopped striving for excellence in the subject since, scoring As in all my Secondary School exams, leading up to an A1 in my GCE 'O' Level Examination.

In Secondary School, my CCAs have provided me with ample opportunity to hone my skills in the language, especially in the area of oratorical skills, as my CCAs were Debates, Public Speaking and the Drama Club. In 2012, I finished as the 7th Best Speaker in the Division at the Singapore Secondary Schools Debate Competition, a national tournament. 2012 was also the year where I wrote a script for my drama club, which was an adaptation of the classic play Emily Of Emerald Hill. Furthermore, I was awarded the Silver Honor Role at the Plain English Speaking Awards competition, reaching the finals as well.

My teaching experience may be limited to the juniors and fellow peers I've guided along the way but I believe that language can be mastered through partnership, a willing heart and a passion for the language.

Moving forward, my course in the Polytechnic (Mass Communication) will also help me to further hone my language skills which would allow me to apply it into my teaching.

When teaching English, I believe it is important to engage the students into thinking critically and realize the purpose and impact of what they are writing, especially with the new secondary school syllabus.
