Student was born in Shanghai and his chinese used to be better than his English. After he moved to Singapore, his exposures to Chinese reduces and his school only spends 80hrs per year on Chinese Education. His Chinese is deterioating. He can speak but his writing and reading are not good compared to P3 local students. Both parents are not proficient in teaching and talking to him in Chinese at home, so his practise is not enough. His school is using P3 curriculumn to teach Heritage students but he has difficulties in recognising the words. Would need a private tutor to sit with him in helping him his homework and speak to him in Chinese.
