Self Introduction |
I do not have experience as a tutor however i love teaching and guiding my juniors as well as my cousins in their studies. I love to teach because i get the sense of accomplishment when people understand the concepts better after i guide them through. Also, it is very heartening to hear that their results have indeed improved after my constant guidance and that they now have built a profound interest for the subjects.
I am a cheerful and optimistic person who believes in herself. I know my strengths and weaknesses and i constantly work to improve myself. I have a strong belief that attitude is the key to success; only with the right attitude you can make a mark in life. When i have time for myself, i play sports particularly netball, basketball and sometimes badminton. I love jogging on my own, and i know by having a healthy lifestyle requires discipline and allows me to understand myself better. Also, i feel that music is a major part of my life. I started playing and learning guitar at the age of 13 and have since continue learning music despite having left my secondary school where guitar is my cca.
For my teaching method, firstly i will usually ask questions to understand what the students do no understand or are confused about. So if its a misunderstanding of concepts, i will then explain the concepts. This i will usually do it by, giving examples, analogy and sometimes by drawing it out. Then if the student understands the concept, i will post questions to see if they really understand it. If they do, i will have them practicing a few more questions on the paper.
if a student was to ask me question, i will not directly tell him/her the answer. I will instead, guide him through by asking him questions so that he will understand the concept by himself. I do this because i believe that the best way to remember something is to understand it yourself.
Sometimes i will also share with my juniors how i go about remembering concepts. As a biology student, i have loads and loads of concepts to remember and memorise. Instead of blindly memorising them and regurgitating during examinations, i uses a different method to remember them altogether. This method has proven useful as i can still remember my secondary school biology having taken my 'A' levels examination this year. |
