Self Introduction |
Was recently a contract teacher with a tuition centre in the north east area (kovan).
I currently have 8 students which spans Primary 4 to Secondary 3. The subjects taught include P4 Higher Chinese, P6 Maths, S1 Maths, S2 Chinese, S3 Bio, S3 Chem, S3 Physics, S3 Maths. Prior to this,
I have only tutored 4 students before. Of the 4, I would highlight one student, Justin, that made a leap from a C5 in E.Math to A2 within 6months of the final lap in O Levels. And with the same student, moved the grade from B4 to A1 for combined Phy/Chem.
I admit I do have limited experience, since I lack time to do private tutoring with myself being a student from 2000-2011. But I do make up for this lack of experience with being an effective and strict teacher as I have freshly left school and understand the strategic thrusts of Cambridge and what kind of answers they are exactly looking for.
Also, an added perk would be lower rates to also help ease the pocket of the student with tighter financial constraint.
I do not claim I can handle classes. But if parents are confident in me, I do not mind opening a class of maximum 6 students so I can focus on each individual adequately.
What sets me apart from other tutors is a special trick I employ. This is not a corny trick like "love". This is one trick that really works. That is, REVIEW. Many tutors, too often, forget to review.
They run through papers after papers and wonder why students keep getting the same old mistakes. I have to agree that review does take up precious tutoring hours, but THIS IS WHAT THAT WORKS!
Only when students understand where they've gone wrong, can they make it right! And this is something students (who don't know the examination well enough) cannot do effectively unguided.
Above all, I am known (amongst my friends through peer-tutoring and ex-students) for being able to ignite this excitement in subjects that the students are disinterested in. This is probably the key to getting the student to even start committing himself to the tuition. |
