Self Introduction

During my years spent chasing academic qualifications, I have coaching fellow students/ juniors in the subject Mathematics through peer tutoring programme. This experience allows me to identify the students’ weakness, thus enabling me to select the most suitable approach to guide them to understand the syllabus in the most efficient way.

Being a Mathematics tutor since 2007, I have been exposed to different types of students (Straight As students, students having weak foundation, students often playing truant from school, etc.). Therefore, I am able to engage respective tutees into developing their own problem-solving skills in Mathematics.

Latest Achievement (2016)

1. After tutoring this particular student, he achieved a B4 (within the range of 60-65) from a failing grade of 20+ throughout his Mathematics exams during his secondary 4. Throughout his school life in secondary school, he has been playing truant in school, contributing to his weak foundation in the subject. I was engaged 10weeks before his N level to assist him to obtain a better grade. Through communication, I was able to identify the problem and rectified it using a suitable approach. At the end of this year, his results improved and he gained interest in the subject Mathematics. This result in him playing truant from school less frequently.

2. I was hired to provide tuition for a student for the subjects E.maths and A.maths. Because of his involvement in basketball tournament, he often has to leave early to participate. This results in him missing many classes, causing him to lack behind in his mathematics. Eventually he failed with slightly below the passing grade of 50. By using a suitable approach to strengthen his foundation, he obtained an A2 for both his E.maths and A.maths in O levels last year.

3. I helped a student who had no interest in Mathematics whom always scored a borderline pass for her exams. After 6 months of tutoring, she eventually gained interest and confidence in the subject Mathematics and scored an A2 for her E.maths in O levels last year.

4. I helped a student to obtain an A1 for both his A.maths and E.maths during his O levels last year. He was unable to produce a consistent result, results fluctuating between C5 to A1. Through some understanding, I was able to identify the problem which allows him to obtain a more consistent result from the range of A2 to A1.

The results of the remaining 3 students who are not taking O levels this year:
1. The 1st student(secondary 3) gotten an A1 for E maths and A2 for A maths. 2. The 2nd student obtained an A2 for E maths.
3. The 3rd student gotten an A for Calculus in her poly year 1(A maths is the foundation for Calculus)
