Self Introduction

I have 1 year + of relevant teaching experience. A few years ago, I taught 2 Primary 5 students English, Maths and Science. Their results improved significantly. Through experience, I have learnt how important it is to communicate well with the students and be strict enough to encourage them to complete assignments, yet friendly enough not to intimidate them and make them feel closer and have more trust in me as a tutor, to increase the chances of them learning as much as possible from my lessons.

During my secondary school days, I did a lot of peer tutoring. My friendís A-Maths results increased from F9 in prelim exams to A1 in O level exams. Other few friends also learnt from me Maths and A-Maths, and their results all improved.

Personally, I scored almost full marks (if not full marks) for my O level Maths and A-Maths. I was so good that I finished my paper very quickly, so I had about 1 hour to check my work. My target is for my students to achieve good results as well, and I believe I can help them because I have done it myself.

I enjoy helping my students to reach their full potential, and improve their results. I am patient, amiable and highly approachable. However, I will be strict with my students in order to equip them with the knowledge and exam skills required to meet their expectations. I also try to make my lessons as interesting as possible in order to spark their interest in learning. I always study the subject I teach thoroughly, so as to impart the correct knowledge.

My teaching style is that I will make sure the student understands what he is supposed to understand before moving on to the next topic. Topics that are going to be tested soon will have priority. I will test my students to make sure they really understand instead of just remembering the structure of the answers, so that when tricky questions come out in tests and exams, they will still know how to do.

I am currently teaching full time. Due to me being a full time tutor, I can spend my mornings planning, scheduling and setting highly personalized methods to teach each student based on their personalities, subject proficiency and expectations.

"Now, if the principle of toleration were once admitted into classical education --if it were admitted that the great object is to read and enjoy a language, and the stress of the teaching were placed on the few things absolutely essential to this result, if the tortoise were allowed time to creep, and the bird permitted to fly, and the fish to swim, towards the enchanted and divine sources of Helicon --all might in their own way arrive there, and rejoice in its flowers, its beauty, and its coolness." - Harriet Beecher Stowe
