Self Introduction
I have tutored Primary 6 students in Maths, and Secondary 2 students in Science for a year during a CIP project known as Project Illuminate. During the project, I learnt how to motivate my tutees as well as to illustrate concepts clearly to improve their understanding of the subjects being taught. Since January 2013, I have tutored 4 students in Sec 3,4 and 5 Chemistry and Physics.

When working through problems, instead of merely spoon-feeding them the answer, I like to guide them through the process by highlighting some clues in the question in order to allow them to work out the solution on their own.

I believe that memorising facts presented in textbooks do not serve to benefit students in the long run. Learning should be done such that the students understand the big picture so that they can visualise, recall and apply effectively what has been learnt to various questions and situations. With that in mind, I strive to ensure that my tutees do not simply regurgitate facts, and are instead able to fully understand the concepts of the subject being taught.
