Self Introduction

I have been working as a part-time tuition teacher for more than four years in time of writing. My particular specialty is teaching upper primary English and Mathematics, as my students have been attaining an average grade of B and above for the respective subjects taught.

I am very familiar with this year’s syllabus as well as the year before, as I have continued teaching the Primary 4 and 5 syllabus since early 2009. One of my current students is in Primary 5.

Having been a tuition teacher for a class before, I have held three classes a week for primary school students at Count Edu-Hub, a tuition centre situated in Bedok.

My style of teaching reflects strongly on the school’s syllabus – I will employ tactics in order for my students to achieve the best grade possible.

I am a strong advocate of foundation and understanding for English, as I believe that students nowadays should no longer just ‘dead-memorise’ their work, and instead understand them, e.g. Difference between Finites and Special Finites, etc. Grammar is of utmost essential. This will in turn allow them to tackle their examinations better.

Also, I believe in flexibility and looking at problems from different perspectives and angles, as the current upper primary mathematics syllabus deals more on critical thinking, especially during Section B. I am very particular with mathematics, as I believe that it is a subject that one can score full marks in with constant practice.

As for Science, while there are more critical-thinking questions these days, it all boils down to memorising the spelling of the different words and understanding processes, etc. Constant practice will do the students well in the subject.
