Self Introduction
In my 3 years of experience, I have only taught primary school students. I believe that the child should understand the content in school textbooks and workbooks. Many parents insist on drilling the child with assignment books which I feel is only secondary. Parents also wonder why a tuition teacher is required if the main emphasis is only on what is taught in school.

I prefer to ensure that the child's foundation is strong. So, I would go over the content taught in school to ensure the child understands the basics. Once that is mastered, assessment books can be used to further develop the child's skills. This is vital especially in Science and Mathematics.

Every lesson which is 1.5 hours, will be carefully maximised. 1 hour of school content revision and remaining half an hour for assessment work. 1.5 hours of lesson will be only for one subject. Many parents expected me to go over the child's homework. I am willing to do that. However, school and tuition homework should be done before the tuition starts. I will most certainly help the child to answer difficult questions and clear their doubts. So in a nutshell, tuition lessons will only be given for learning so that I will be on par with the school syllabus.

Mistakes which hinders a child's progress are doing homework during tuition lesson, refusing to do homework, parents not ensuring homework is done and also parents expecting me to be the disciplinarian. If all this is taken care of by the parents, every tuition lesson will be fruitful.
Only when the child understands the syllabus in school, which will be my responsibility, I can go further ahead with assessment books and past year exam papers.

I follow these methods religiously and have helped my tuition kids achieve their A grades. Tutor and parents have to work hand in hand for the child to progress well. Thank you for your understanding.
