New home tutor verification system

Posted by Smart Tuition Singapore on 9th March and posted in Tuition Agency Announcements & Updates

Dear tutors, it is our promise to parents and students to provide them with quality home tutors.

This is why we are requesting our tutors to send us soft-copies of their identification cards and certifications. We spend extra time to verify each tutor’s documents and honestly it is very tedious and time-consuming for us to do it. However, in order to be fair to the parents and students, we take pride in ourselves by continuing with the verification to ensure that the parents/students are paying the selected home tutors the rightful amount of tuition fees.

In the past, some tutors may have sent us only their identification cards while others have submitted only their certificates, and we have all along grouped the documents as a whole. We have recently improved on the verification work by sorting out the identity verification part from the document; moreover, we are now able to differentiate the level of certification sent. That means if a home tutor has indicated his qualification as “Master” but has only sent us his “O” level certificate, we are now able to see the situation clearly and advise the tutor to submit the rest of the document.

Tutors are now able to view the exact status of the verification right after logging into their profiles. They are also positioned in our tuition system as accordingly to the documents submitted, which means that those tutors who have already submitted their documents will be placed at the more viewable (front) position for parents/students and our coordinators to select.

Home tutors, kindly log into your account now and check that we have updated your status correctly. Do send us the rest of your documents if you have not.

Tuition Agency’s Email Quota was Full

Posted by Smart Tuition Singapore on 26th February and posted in Tuition Agency Announcements & Updates

Hey tutors!

We would like to apologise for our email space was full just now. There are many enthusiastic home tutors who are sending us their documents for verification purpose and thus the mailbox size has reached the limited of 1GB.

Should there be a re-bounce of email from us for the day, we are very sorry about it. We have currently set the mailbox size to unlimited storage. This problem should not happen again in future.

For those who have not sent us the soft-copy of their identification cards and certificates, do mail to us for verification.

For home tutors who are applying for the assignments, continue to email to us while the development of our new tuition assignments application system is in progress.

Posted by Smart Tuition Singapore on 18th February and posted in Tuition Agency Announcements & Updates

Hey peeps! Our tuition agency has been working very hard on the administration side’s programming in order to help improving tuition assignments coordination. There are many things yet to be done and many useful pages yet to be created. Be patient and you will get to see more updates in near future.

Though we are focusing hard on the administration side, there are also a couple of new pages that we would like to highlight on.

We have added a new article on “Teenage Dating” to show some of our views regarding the topic. If you have any opinion on it, do reply through commenting this blog post or simply drop us an email.

Next, we have added a “Our Friends” page. This is where we link to friends who have linked to us in their websites. If you are interested in doing links exchange with us, do link to us and let us know. However, we only accept quality websites and blogs – legal and not look like a spam site.

We have included a list of type of tutors in the Home Tutor Singapore page. We believe this will help parents to understand what are the common subjects our tutors are capable and confident of teaching.

New Private Tutor Singapore and Tuition Agencies Singapore pages

Posted by Smart Tuition Singapore on 26th January and posted in Tuition Agency Announcements & Updates

We have added two articles last week, known as Private Tutor Singapore and Tuition agencies Singapore.

Private Tutor Singapore lists out the common factors parents in Singapore usually look out for when engaging home tutors for their kids. We hope this new article will be able to help parents to better understand how their ideal home tutors should be, so that we can scale down the number of suitable home tutors at the start, and also reduce time wastage for everyone.

Tuition Agencies Singapore discusses about the tuition agencies in Singapore. If you are interested in how Singapore tuition agencies work, you may want to take a look at it.

We have also updated our FAQ page. We have listed the frequently asked questions on top and the answers at the second half of the page; they are linked together somehow, and by clicking on the top questions, you will get to see the answers. We believe this will help parents/students and home tutors to screen through the questions easier.

Important Updates for Home Tutors

Posted by Smart Tuition Singapore on 24th January and posted in Tuition Agency Announcements & Updates

Dear Tutors,

Greetings! Please take your time to look through this important email.

Due to increasing traffic of tutors applying for tuition assignments, we seek your patience in giving us time to send in your profile to the parents. We will take this chance to clarify some doubts and problems asked by the tutors.

These are various ways that tutors may apply for the tuition assignments.

1. You may text me directly at 90223225 with your name, the assignment code and relevant experience

2. You may send us an email directly to admin at smarttuition.sg

However, we also seek your understanding because we are not able to reply to all the emails. But rest assured that your profile will still be sent to the parents once you indicate your interest in the assignment. Please also indicate your relevant experiences in the assignment you are applying for. This will facilitate the application process. Parents will usually ask if the tutors has prior experience in the subject.

In addition, we would require all our tutors to verify their details by sending in their NRIC and relevant certificates for verification. Without the verification, we will NOT give the assignment to the tutor. We understand that not all agencies have such verification process. We are also taking this opportunity to clarify our stand. The reason for such verification process is to safeguard the interests of the parents. Parents are genuinely looking for good tutors for their kids and because some agencies do not verify the details of their tutors, many had ended up with bad experiences. Rest assured that your particulars are definitely kept confidential. We will never reveal your identity to a third party.

For tutors who have already verified your profiles, you would be prioritized as compared to tutors who have not verified their details. Please note that relevant certificates would include your O level, A level, Diploma or degree. Please also understand that parents do ask for details such as O level results (even if the tutoring level is PSLE).

I would also recommend all our tutors to update their profile by logging in to our website when there are any changes. This is especially for those A level graduates who are entering the university. An undergraduate would usually stand a higher chance to get the assignments as compared to A level graduates.

Also, as there are always quite a lot of tutors applying for a particular assignment, we would not be able to get back to all the tutors. Only the shortlisted tutors are going to be contacted by us. Please do understand. We are trying to improve the system so that you will be able to view the status of your assignment application after logging in.

We know most of our tutors won’t read through our website. Thus we would also need to inform all our tutors of the commission by our agency. From now on, we have a new policy. We will be collecting the tuition fees from the parents directly after the 2nd week of lessons. This is equivalent to collecting 50% of the tutor’s salary for the first month. This would be made easier as compared to our policy in the past. For instance, if lesson is made 2 times per week, we will be collecting the payment after 4 lessons. If lesson is once per week, we will collect the payment after 2 lessons.

Thank you for reading this email and do approach us if you have any further doubts and queries. We also would like to recommend you to sign up for the “Daily Jobs Update” feed at our website to keep you informed of new tuition assignments (consolidated to be dispatched once a day). For more updates from our tuition agency, do visit our tuition blog at smarttuition.sg/blog.

We would like to also wish all our tutors a happy Chinese New Year in advance :)

Regards,
Kaiwei

Tuition Agency Updates for Early Year 2011

Posted by Smart Tuition Singapore on 19th January and posted in Tuition Agency Announcements & Updates

Smart Tuition Singapore has made several updates to the tuition agency website over the past two weeks. We are unable to post about each changes individually due to time constraint; we think the time will be better spent to impose new features and tools instead. Hence, we will simply do a quick summary of some of the changes instead.

Singapore Services

We have created this new Singapore Services page. The contents are originated from the Our Services page. These services in Singapore are provided by other companies and non-profit organization/parties and we do not wish our visitors to be confused. If you know of any great services in Singapore, do feel free to inform us with details.

Our Services

Other than removing the section on Singapore Services from Our Services page, we have included the Singapore tuition services that we are providing. There are still quite a number of changes pending in order to make the page more informative. Do give us some times please.

Singapore Schools

We have listed the schools in Singapore in this new Singapore Schools page. We hope by listing the Singapore schools, it may be helpful to some of our visitors, especially foreigners. We will need helps from everyone to inform us of changes such as merging of schools and new schools that MOE has decided to set up. Of course, kindly highlight to us if you have found any error. We will continue to add more information to this Singapore Schools page.

Tuition Assignments in Singapore

Tuition Assignments in Singapore is a new tuition article that explains about tuition assignments in Singapore. You can think of it as a wiki of tuition assignments in Singapore since it provides almost all information that you need to know about all the immediate tuition assignments in Singapore.

Tuition Assignments Singapore Feed

We have now directed all our individual assignments’ feeds to their individual tuition assignment pages instead of all pointing to the main immediate tuition assignment Singapore page.
